Pontus

A dry apnea training timer for freedivers. CO2 and O2 tables built from your own personal best, with voice cues that keep going when the screen is locked.

Train by the table, not by the clock

Pontus measures your maximum static hold, builds CO2 and O2 tables from that number, and runs them for you — announcing every phase out loud so you can lie down, shut your eyes and stop watching a screen.

Tables from your own PB

Measure your maximum static hold in the app, and Pontus generates CO2 and O2 tables from it. Every hold and rest is derived from your current number, not from a generic plan.

Runs with the screen locked

Put the phone down, close your eyes and listen. Pontus announces every phase and counts you down out loud, and keeps running with the device locked in your pocket or beside you.

Over your music

Cues duck your music instead of stopping it. If a call interrupts the session, it pauses rather than running on unheard.

Custom tables

Build your own sequence round by round — add, remove and reorder, and set every breathe and hold yourself.

Your history, on your device

Finished and stopped sessions are both recorded, with planned against actual for every round. Charts show your personal best over time, sessions per week and how often you finish what you start.

Your training stays on your phone

No account and no server of ours. Pontus never asks who you are, and your bests, tables and sessions are never uploaded. Anonymous crash and usage diagnostics can be switched off in Settings.

Before you start

Pontus is a timer for dry breath-hold training on land. Breath-hold training can cause a blackout without warning.

  • Never use this app, or hold your breath, in or near water. In water, always train with a trained partner watching you.
  • Never train while driving, standing, or in a bath or pool. Train lying down or seated on the floor.
  • Stop immediately if you feel dizzy, faint or unwell.
  • Pontus is a training timer. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. Talk to a doctor before training if you have a heart or lung condition, or if you are pregnant.
